The supply of the Crucial MX200 500GB SATA3 SSD …

The new Crucial MX200 SSD is located in this box. It is no more declared as 512GB SSD like the M550 or MX100, but as 500GB MX200 SSD:

That is contained in the delivery …

Here is a first look inside of the MX200 SSD cardboard box:

The Crucial MX200 2.5″ SSD CT500MX200SSD1 is delivered well packaged together with a 9.5 mm adapter and an Acronis True Image HD software activation key. With Acronis True Image HD software can backup and restore not only hard drives and SSDs, but transfer especially Windows from a hard drive to an SSD and migrate it correctly:

The following image shows the front of the brand-new 2.5″ Crucial MX200 500GB SSD:

On the flipside you can see the label of the Crucial MX200 2.5-inch SSD with a few technical data and the firmware version. The two SATA3 connectors for the power supply and data connection can be seen in the following image on the left side. The SSD connector is identical to conventional SATA hard drives and a SATA3 SSD can be operated with a lower speed at an SATA2 interface:

Crucials MX200 no longer can be opened so simply like the previous Crucial SSDs, nevertheless we did it, to show you some pictures of the MX200 PCB. Here you can see eight 16nm Micron NAND modules of the SATA3 SSD with 512 GB capacity, the Micron D9RLT 512MB LPDDR2 cache module and the Marwell 88SS9189-BLD2 controller IC, which already replaced the Marwell 88SS9187-BLD2 of the Crucial M500 SSD controller by the M550. BTW. the MX200 SSD also offers a Microsoft eDrive compatible, built-in 256-bit AES encryption (TCG Opal 2.0 and IEEE 1667), which allows a hardware encryption with an appropriate UEFI hardware equipment and Microsoft Windows 8 or Microsoft Windows Server 2012 with BitLocker enabled:

The back of the circuit board is quite empty at least of the 500 GB type:

Another special feature is the lower height of the Crucial MX200 SSD, which is in contrast to some previous of SSDs such as the m4 SSD Crucial, only 7 mm and no more 9.5 mm. Crucial includes a 7 mm to 9.5 mm adapter frame which can be layed or sticked on the SSD, if necessary to stay compatible with the very popular height of 9.5 mm:
