This is the new Arctic Freezer 33 Plus.
A look at the rear of the fans confirms our suspicions: The supplied fans are the proven 120mm model, which has already proved itself in previous tests. Only the front label carries the new logo. Thanks to the integrated Y-adapter, both fans can be connected to one connection.
In contrast to the previous model, the heat sink itself shows little change. A simple design with 49 cooling fins and 4 heatpipes.
The “Plus” variant from our test has 4 holes in the cooling plates, in order to be able to accommodate a total of 2 fans. By the way, the only difference to the version without “Plus”.
The biggest innovation is actually found in the aluminum base plate, which now has a notch and only one thread. This simplifies assembly and saves two screws, which is called a win-win situation.
Arctic, on the other hand, has retained the mounting brackets, which in contrast to the competition function somewhat differently. They are plugged into the radiator and the fans are only clamped behind it, this makes it easier to install the fans in the finished system.
After the predecessor appeared separately for AMD and Intel, the Freezer 33 now can serve both manufacturers. However on sides of AMD only the newest socket AM4.
The Direct-Touch heatpipes are neatly polished and the gaps between them are hardly existent.
With the Arctic MX-4 WLP, the cooler also has an above-average thermal paste of 8.5 W / (mK).
