Test setup and results …
In order to see how well the Cooler MasterLiquid ML240P Mirage AIO water cooler performs its intended task, we simply mounted it into our test system and first let it compete against two air coolers. Then we tested whether there were enough reserves to cool an overclocked CPU sufficiently. The test system consists of the following components …

In order to keep the influence of the case on the test results as small as possible, no side wall of the case was mounted during the tests. The CPU was loaded with the Prime95 program where we chose the “Small FFT” test for maximum heat development. The temperatures were determined with the program HWiNFO. The system was always under load until no temperature increase could be detected for 5 minutes. The AMD Boxed Cooler and the Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Tower Cooler were the opponents of Cooler Master’s AIO water cooling. The pump of the Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240P Mirage always ran on 100%, because on the one hand it is almost inaudible and on the other hand no control range was defined by the Cooler Master.
The measured values for the not overclocked CPU are as follows. Results with the value “>85 °C” mean that the test was aborted early because the cooling was not sufficient.
The AMD cooler must be operated at maximum fan speed even at standard clock speeds in order to cool the CPU sufficiently, and the Arctic Tower cooler specified up to 200W TDP delivers sufficient cooling power at medium speeds. The Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240P Mirage AIO watercooler can easily handle the heat generated by the CPU at standard speed even in whisper-quiet operation at 1000 rpm! In the overclocked state, where the CPU develops 56% more heat, the wheat separates from the chaff, as the following diagram shows. With the AMD Boxed Cooler such a high overclocking was not possible.
The Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240P Mirage can set itself apart from the Arctic Tower cooler by 4-7°C at comparable fan speeds under the difficult conditions. As the only test candidate, the AIO water cooling from Cooler Master, even at 1000 rpm fan speed, would sufficiently cool the CPU in the overclocked state and remain pleasantly quiet.
