Test setup and results …
Before we begin the test … we weren’t quite finished yet. After the first test run with thermal paste we mounted the Alphacool Eisblock Aurora Plexi GPX again with liquid metal. For this purpose we first insulated the surrounding components with nail varnish.
Subsequently, liquid metal was applied instead of heat-conducting paste. This can also be seen in detail in the video.
For the practical testing we mounted the ASRock RX5700 XT Taichi incl. Eisblock on our AM4 test system, which consists of the following components
ASRock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4
AMD Ryzen 7 1800X
Crucial 4GB DDR4-2400
Cooler Master Testbench v1.0
For cooling we used our freshly converted Antec K240 AIO, for which there is also a video on our OCinside YouTube Channel.
Of course we needed reference values beforehand, so we sent the ASRock Radeon RX 5700 XT Taichi X 8G OC+ through the complete benchmark course on this test system. The results are therefore directly comparable with those of the other tested graphics cards on this system.
ASRock Radeon RX 5700 XT Taichi X 8G OC+ Benchmark Results | ||
Mode | Default Mode | User Mode |
GPU | 2040 MHz | 2080 MHz |
RAM | 3500 MHz | 3800 MHz |
Powerlimit | 0% | 50% |
Unigine Heaven | 2735 | 2849 |
SuperPosition | 5309 | 5546 |
3DMark Firestrike Extreme | 12132 | 12771 |
3DMark Timespy | 8958 | 9401 |
Temperature air cooling | 70/91°C | 79/111°C |
Temperature water cooling | 58/78°C | 66/94°C |
Temperature water cooling + liquid metal | 51/68°C | 56/80°C |
And here you see the results again clearly arranged as a diagram.
The temperatures can of course drop significantly under water compared to air cooling. They become really great when liquid metal is used. Especially the hotspot values will then drop significantly!
Overall, the Alphacool ice block can absolutely convince us in terms of temperatures.
Practical testing optics …
Now let’s take a look at what the Alphacool ice block Aurora has to offer visually.
Due to the aRGB tape, a variety of effects are of course possible, which we present at the end of our video. If you want you can jump directly to minute 44:25 of our video OCinside YouTube Channel.
