AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Energy consumption and temperatures …
In terms of energy consumption, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X shows its best side after some tuning! The progress in the manufacturing structure size of 5nm is now fully effective. For better illustration, we show a comparison table with standard settings as well as the previously mentioned performance preset “PBO, 85°C and Curve Optimzer -30mV”. We also include values from a Ryzen 5600X with activated PBO. Cinebench R15 is our review of choice because it is purely CPU-limited and therefore scales very well with the power settings.
CPU | Cinebench R15 | CPU frequency | CPU temperature | CPU PPT |
AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Standard | 2505 Points | 5325 MHz | 83°C | 105W |
AMD Ryzen 5 7600X PBO | 2645 Points | 5450 MHz | 69°C | 86W |
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Standard | 1990 Points | 4600 MHz | 69°C | 98,5W |
The new 7600X easily outclasses a Ryzen 5600X processor, which is already exhausted by PBO and Curve Optimizer, by 25% in Cinebench R15 with standard settings. However, it also consumes about 7% more power and runs quite warm with 83°C, but still within an acceptable range. Without water cooling, the CPU might have to throttle itself due to the temperature.
With the Performance Preset enabled, the true performance potential of the 7600X is revealed. The CPU’s power consumption is reduced by 18% and the score still increases by 5.6%. Compared to the direct predecessor, this means 33% more computing power with 13% less power consumption in the Cinebench R15 Multicore Test.
However, we should not forget that we chose a CPU-only test here and only tested one CPU at a time. The results can of course deviate from our measurements in other applications and with other Ryzen 7600X models.
Likewise, the remaining components of the PC, especially the cooling, play an important role regarding the overall performance of a computer and future BIOS updates as well as Windows updates will also influence the performance.
Finally, let’s come to our conclusion.
