Crucial Pro Overclocking 32GB DDR5 2x 16GB DDR5-6000 White RAM Review

Setup and test results …

Now we come to another important part of the review: The performance!

DDR5 Testsystem …

We test the 32 GB Crucial DDR5-6000 memory kit on the following AMD test system:

CPU AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
Motherboard ASRock X670E Taichi Carrara
Cooling Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Duo
Thermal compound Arctic MX-6
RAM 2x 16GB Crucial DDR5 Pro Overclocking 6000MT/s in Dual Channel mode
M.2 SSD Samsung SSD 960 Pro
PSU Cooler Master XG Plus 650 Platinum ARGB

The stability was tested with Memtest86, the benchmarks used were SiSoft Sandra Lite 2020 and AIDA64 The latest versions of SiSoftware Sandra and AIDA64 are available for download on our server and can be downloaded there at high speed. The CPU-Z download can also be found there.

Crucial DDR5 Pro DDR5-6000 Benchmark …

Crucial DDR5 Pro DDR5-6000 overclocking and results …

Let’s get to the promised overclocking of the Crucial DDR5 Pro memory. First, we took a close look at what was installed on the Crucial DDR5 Pro and how the memory is constructed. This can be checked very well with the Thaiphoon Burner tool:

It is also immediately apparent that the memory is already overclocked. Memory chips for 5600MT/s are installed on the stick. This means that the OC result is likely to be rather sober, which is confirmed in the test.

We have deliberately refrained from fine-tuning for the time being and used the sledgehammer method. We only want to know roughly what you can get out of it without any problems. We therefore simply increased the voltages and raised the timings.

Unfortunately, anything over 6200MT/s even with 1.45V already resulted in boot errors. Even when the divider of the Infiniti Fabric was increased. Increasing the latencies did not help either. 6200MT/s with CL36 ran at 1.42V but rock stable with an IF of 2067MHz. At 6000MT/s the IF is 2000MHz by default. The IF does not run synchronously on AM5, as was the case with an AM4.

And so here are the test results.

First the Sisoft Sandra results again:

Frequency Timing Memory voltage Memory bandwidth Cache and memory access Memory latency
6200.00 MHz SPD/EXPO 36-38-38-80 1.420 Volt 57,105 GB/s 610,138 GB/s 59.4 ns

Here is the result of the AIDA64 memory benchmark tests:

Frequency Timing Memory voltage Memory bandwidth Cache and memory access Memory latency
3100.0 MHz SPD/EXPO 36-38-38-80 1.420 Volt 60966 MB/s 82437 MB/s 73 ns

We also tested whether we could improve the latency and yes, this is also possible. We achieved a CAS latency of 34 at 6000MT/s.

And here are the corresponding test results.

First the Sisoft Sandra results again:

Frequency Timing Memory voltage Memory bandwidth Cache and memory access Memory latency
6200.00 MHz SPD/EXPO 36-38-38-80 1.420 Volt 55,566 GB/s 598,367 GB/s 60.5 ns

As we can see, the Crucial DDR5 Pro memory kit can still be overclocked a little. Albeit within a narrow range.

In the results, we also see that the values can be improved by a few points both with classic overclocking and with latency tuning. With a little more fine-tuning etc., even better results are certainly possible.
