Practical testing …
Now we finally come to the most important part and that is the iScooter T4 practical test.
You should first watch the iScooter T4 practical testing Video on our OCinside YouTube Channel.

iScooter T4 transport …
First of all, we just wanted to see if the e-scooter would fit into the trunk of an ordinary BMW 1 Series when folded up. It didn’t work without folding down the rear seats, but there wasn’t too much missing.
Now we have ridden the iSinwheel T4 a few kilometers on the road, bike paths and parks, where you are officially allowed to ride an e-scooter just like a bicycle.
However, this park is not only home to ducks, but also a few bridges, dirt tracks and the supreme discipline for every e-scooter: cobblestones!
General e-scooter load …
On cobblestones, you immediately notice if you are riding an ordinary e-scooter without pneumatic tires, such as those we rode in the e-scooter test in Hamburg from various rental providers.
In the test a good five years ago, these already had front shock absorbers, but a completely rigid rear section.
We have now taken a closer look and tested a few current rental scooters again a good 5 years later.
Even today, we mainly find rigid rear axles on rental scooters, albeit with slightly larger wheels than in the early days.
We were also particularly interested in the critical points that can become problematic on many trips with an e-scooter and where can you see this better than on “extremely heavily used” rental e-scooters. The problematic areas were mainly dirt around the front wheel area.
But severe rust marks on the shock absorber tubes were also not uncommon here.
And because an e-scooter like this can sometimes fall over, a stable handlebar structure is very important.
iScooter T4 stability …
After our short excursion to the rental e-scooters in Hamburg, let’s get back to the iScooter T4. Compared to the commercially used e-scooter vehicles, the Zamelux Green T4 has a more wobbly handlebar structure with a much thinner handlebar without axle guide, but a folding mechanism and a much more comfortable suspension.
In practice, we noticed that the suspension feels very powerful at first glance, but offers great benefits on rough terrain and safely absorbs heavier impacts. However, we also noticed that contact could occur between the mudguard and the cable guide on the frame. This is of course not desirable and should be prevented by additional fixings.
The folding mechanism is of course very helpful when carrying and transporting the T4 in the trunk. However, we have also learned that the front frame area in particular is exposed to the most dirt. And since the front mudguard is relatively short, you can clearly see this on your clothes after the ride 😉
In addition, during off-road driving, the steering always got a little out of line. For serious off-road use, you would definitely need to consider reinforcing it. The handlebars themselves also don’t seem very ergonomic and it’s harder for smaller hands to reach the indicators and brakes. However, this is not a problem for larger hands. On the other hand, we really like the large pedal area, where even two larger feet can fit side by side. This provides a secure footing at all times and allows you to vary your position while riding. The display is very clearly laid out and gives you an immediate overview of all the important functions and data.
iScooter T4 Zero Kickstart …
Another very interesting feature is the zero start or direct start function, which can be set in the service menu via item P1 by changing P1 0 to P1 1 and thus no longer requiring a kick start to drive the e-scooter. You simply press the lever and it starts to move. With this setting, you don’t have to kick-start the e-scooter to 3 km/h first. As far as we know, the Zero Kickstart is even permitted in Germany, but everyone should check this out for themselves.
iScooter T4 speed…
Speaking of speed, the speed levels are selected using the S button and can be set from walk mode at 6 km/h to ecomode at 10 km/h and standard mode at 15 km/h through to walk mode at 20 km/h. After switching on the T4, it initially starts in walking mode and must first be set to the desired speed again by pressing the S button several times. It is a little annoying that no other standard setting can be defined, so that the desired speed has to be selected each time you start driving.
Unfortunately, the beep cannot be officially deactivated. If you want to deactivate the beep sound during operation and the blinker sound, you could either desolder the piezo buzzer or mask off the buzzer holes to reduce the volume. It would also be possible to deactivate the sound with a custom firmware, but you would also lose the ABE by modifying or scooter hacking using Xiaoflasher, SHU (ScooterHacking Utility), SHFW (ScooterHacking Firmware) to increase the speed to 25 km/h or 40 km/h. On other models, you only needed to press the M button 5 times to unlock the speed, but this was no longer possible with our original firmware. Certainly not a bad thing to maintain insurance cover 😉
iScooter T4 App…
And while we’re on the subject of apps – there is even an app for the iScooter T4 called MiniRobot App, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Google Playstore or Apple App Store. The iScooter T4 MiniRobot app displays the current speed and battery charge status on the homepage. There are also a few functions and a link to the manual. The connection is made via Bluetooth, but has no safety mechanisms other than proximity tracking. Anyone standing next to the EScooter can therefore operate it. We would at least like to see confirmation by pressing a button on the device.
Information on the mainboard version, installed firmware, performance data and the total operating time is very interesting and could not be read without this MiniRobot app.
Overall, we can see that Zamelux has put a lot of thought into the design of this e-scooter and this is definitely noticeable when riding it. The pneumatic tires in particular offer a level of comfort that you will hardly want to do without after a ride! The disc brakes are also very effective and impress even when braking hard.
