++++ With a current market price of just under 230 Euro (02/2025), the ASRock X870 Pro RS is one of the more affordable X870 motherboards.
Thanks to its X870 chipset, however, it belongs more in the mid-range of Socket AM5 motherboards, as the B650E is actually the regular predecessor and not the X670. A total of three M.2 slots, one each for Gen5, Gen4 and Gen3, as well as two USB4 sockets leave nothing to be desired. There are also countless other USB connections. A good sound chip and 4 SATA ports round off the pretty good overall picture.
Thanks to its high-quality 8-layer PCB, DDR5 speeds of 8000MT/s can be achieved, although a little luck with the CPU’s memory controller is also required here. Thanks to extended EXPO support, these speeds can now also be activated with one click in the UEFI/BIOS.
The LAN port speed of 2.5 gigabits is also in the upper mid-range. However, if you need WiFi7, you should go straight for the ASRock X870 Pro RS WiFi with WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 module, which is available for around 20 Euro extra.
With a 14+2+1 VRM configuration, the power supply is really excellent in this price range and will have no problems even with the latest AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D.
Of course, the addressable RGB LED lighting has not been spared and thanks to the quick-release fastener, PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD installation is very easy. Only the cooler for the two lower M.2 slots still has to be unscrewed, but at least all NVMe M.2 SSDs can be inserted without tools. The M.2_2 slot can be equipped with different M.2 SSD formats, the M.2_1 and M.2_3 are reserved for the 2280 format.
The equipment package is rounded off with numerous fan connections and a sophisticated fan controller, which can now also be based on the temperature values of an external temperature sensor, which is unfortunately not included in the scope of delivery.
With this good overall result and first-class overclockability, the ASRock X870 Pro RS motherboard easily earns our OCinside.de Price Tip Award. The features in this price range are impressive in any case, with or without WiFi.
