Test setup and results …
For the practical test, we have the Deepcool Assassin 3 mounted on our AM4 test system, which consists of the following components:
ASRock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4
AMD Ryzen 7 1800X
Crucial 2x4GB DDR4-2400
Cooler Master Testbench v1.0
For measurement, the following tools were used: Prime95 and SpeedFan.
Thermal compound: Arctic MX-2 (pre-applied)
The ambient temperature during the test was about 21°C.
Even if the Freezer A13X is in a different league, we let it compete against our reference, the Noctua NH-D15.
The comparison lags a lot, of course, but the Freezer A13X can still show that it is absolutely capable of cooling the Ryzen 7 1800X. If we think back to the diagram on the packaging, we are now wondering why Arctic has stacked there so deep.
We measure the fan volume with a dB measuring device from a distance of 100cm. In addition, we determine the respective speed of rotation.
Arctic Freezer A13X | ||
20% | 31.3dB | 590rpm |
40% | 32.9dB | 946rpm |
60% | 35.4dB | 1364rpm |
80% | 37.3dB | 1721pm |
100% | 41.4dB | 1024rpm |
The 92mm fan is absolutely quiet and is only audible from 60%. Even the 80% and 100% attitudes can be described as pretty moderate.
