
Power consumption …
For the power measurement, we use a commercially available socket power meter that continuously records the power consumption of our test system and saves the maximum value of interest to us.
With the ASRock RX 9070 XT Taichi on factory settings and AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, the test system requires a maximum of 598W under full load and 63W at idle. If the power limit of the graphics card is increased, the power supply unit has to deliver 632W. The additional 34W of the graphics card, which are activated in the driver, can also be determined 1:1 by our wattmeter. With the graphics card’s power limit reduced by 30%, the entire system draws 482W from the socket, which is 14W less than one would expect due to the reduced power limit, as the power consumption is reduced by 116W instead of 102W. But even with a 15% reduced power limit, the total power consumption of 542W is slightly less than expected.
