Overclock Intel Rocket Lake-S …
Of course, at OCinside.de we always want to see what more can get out of Intel Core i5-11600K overclocking and Intel Core i9-11900K overclocking We also had an excellent base for this with the ASRock Z590 Steel Legend. Equipped with a 14-phase power supply design and reliable components, this motherboard offers a completely consistent power delivery to the CPU. In this way, this motherboard offers not only unmatched overclocking capacity but also the best possible system stability and increased performance while maintaining the lowest temperatures. For demanding gamers and extreme overclockers. (Image: ASRock)
The important cogs here are “Long Duration Power Limit”, “Long Duration Power Maintained” and “Short Duration Power Limit”. Since we want to go high, we don’t do things by halves, but set these values to the maximum allowed in each case.
Afterwards, we can relax and approach the maximum clock rates in Windows with ASRock’s A-Tuning software.
Alternatively, you can of course overclock the CPUs with the Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel XTU Download), which is provided by Intel and also allows extensive overclocking in Windows.
Power Limit …
For those who have not yet dealt with the 3 UEFI points at Intel, here is a short explanation again:
Short Duration Power Limit defines how much power the processor is allowed to consume for a short period of time.
Long Duration Power Limit is in principle nothing else, only that here the energy consumption for the full load operation is specified, which is normally lower.
Long Duration Power Maintained defines for how many seconds the “Long Duration Power Limit” is valid.
If you want to know more about the power limits and basic CPU overclocking, it’s best to check out the following Intel CPU overclocking guide, where all the steps are explained using Intel 115x processors. Also very interesting is this overclocking guide, which is almost exclusively about CPU power limits. So the matching counterpart to the AMD Ryzen TDP OC guide.
