++++ With a current market price of just over 450 Euro (11/2024), the ASRock X870E Taichi is already one of the higher-priced AM5 motherboards.
With its X870E chipset, it currently represents the maximum expansion stage as far as the AM5 socket is concerned. A total of four M.2 slots (one of which is PCIe Gen5), two PCIe Gen5 slots and even two USB4 sockets leave nothing to be desired. There are also countless other USB sockets, first-class sound processing and six SATA3 ports.
Thanks to its high-quality 8-layer PCB, DDR5 speeds of 8000MT/s or even a little more can be achieved, whereby luck must also help with the CPU’s memory controller. Thanks to extended EXPO support, these speeds can now also be activated with a single click in the UEFI/BIOS.
The network connections have been upgraded on the X870E Taichi and you are now connected at lightning speed with WiFi 7 (6GHz) and 5Gibt/s LAN, both wireless and wired. Game controllers can also be connected via Bluetooth 5.4 with minimal delay.
Unfortunately, the USB4 Type-C sockets now only supply 15W, which is a disadvantage when using a VR headset.
However, the massive power supply for the CPU with 24 high-performance output stages is still unsurpassed, leaving even maximum overclocking of the most powerful processors cold. The 7-segment display and the buttons for power and reset also make the hearts of hardcore overclockers beat faster and the BIOS flashback button enables BIOS updates without a CPU.
Of course, the RGB LED lighting has not been spared and thanks to the integration of various quick-release fasteners, the installation and removal of M.2 SSDs and graphics cards is now much easier than before.
The equipment package is rounded off with numerous fan connections and a sophisticated fan controller, which can now also be based on the temperature values of up to 3 external thermal sensors.
The lack of support for M.2 2230 SSDs is not a problem, but should be taken into account if you want to install SSDs from a games console. This would then require an optional PCIe card or USB adapter.
With this excellent overall result and first-class overclockability, the ASRock X870E Taichi motherboard easily wins our OCinside.de Overclocking Dream Award. There are practically no other AM5 motherboards currently available with more features for the price.
Here you can order the ASRock X870E Taichi at a reasonable price. *Ad
