Layout, design and features …
Visually, there is nothing wrong with the mouse at all. The first thing that catches the eye is the large thumb rest, which we are otherwise only familiar with from mice such as the Logitech MX Master.
Fortunately, the surface also dispenses with the frequently used soft-touch surface, which starts to look unattractive after just a short period of use (see How to remove the soft rubber coating).
The front of the three thumb buttons is also striking, as it is longer to enable comfortable operation. On the SteelSeries Rival 650 Wireless from the previous test, a major point of criticism was that this button was virtually impossible to operate due to its arrangement and size.
If you have read the technical details carefully, you will have noticed that the Basilisk V3 Pro is slightly shorter than the SteelSeries mouse. This flatters shorter hands and the mouse is therefore more comfortable to hold.
The front section houses the mouse wheel and the buttons underneath, which many users are likely to use for DPI switching.
The mouse wheel has some interesting functions. Not only is it illuminated, it also has the option of processing left and right inputs. It also has a practical function called Smart Reel mode. This means that if you turn the mouse wheel faster on longer websites, it automatically switches to freewheel mode. This eliminates the typical detent and allows you to reach the end of the page much faster.
The underside is also not uninteresting. Here we can see the five PTFE feet, which give the Basilisk excellent gliding properties. The profile button is used to change profiles as well as to establish a connection via Bluetooth or wireless.
The USB dongle is located behind the round lid at the bottom. Optionally, an inductive Qi charging puk can also be mounted here, which can then charge the mouse wirelessly. This can be purchased separately.
The third connection type, which is implemented via USB-C cable, is pleasing.
A magnetic charging adapter can also be used here to quickly connect the mouse to the charging cable.
Now let’s move on to installing the software for the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro.
