Test setup and results …
For the practical test, we have installed the Scythe Ninja 5 on our new AM4 test system, which consists of the following components:
ASRock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4
AMD A8-9600 @ 3.8 GHz with 1.4 Volt
4GB DDR4-2400
Cooler Master Testbench v1.0
For measurement, the following tools were used: Prime95 and SpeedFan.
Thermal compound: SilentiumPC (included)
The ambient temperature during the test was about 21°C.
The SilentiumPC Fera 3 RGB competes against the AMD Boxed cooler. If you want, you can also check out our tests of the Cooler Master MA410P and the Cryorig H7 and H7 Quad Lumi, which were tested under the same conditions and compare the results.
We then used the CPU for 30 minutes with Prime95 and recorded the temperatures.
The SilentiumPC Fera 3 RGB reflected great against the boxed cooler and does not have to shy away from the comparison with opponents of similar design.
The fan volume is measured with a dB meter from 100cm distance. In addition, we determine the respective rotational speed.
SilentiumPC Fera 3 RGB | ||
20% | 32dB | 785rpm |
40% | 33.5dB | 934rpm |
60% | 35dB | 1231rpm |
80% | 37dB | 1522rpm |
100% | 39dB | 1649rpm |
The temperatures and the volume almost invite a linear fan curve. We find the fan noise consistently pleasant, even in the upper rpm range.
To be able to estimate the fan noise, there is again a video with the full rpm range:
