SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL Wireless Review

Today we present the next evolutionary stage of keyboards. The new SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL Wireless features keys with so-called hall-effect sensors. In the following review on OCinside.de, we take a closer look at the SteelSeries keyboard and go into all important details. An additional SteelSeries Apex Pro video with English subtitles shows the lighting and gives a sound sample. We also test two SteelSeries PrismCaps Double Shot PBT keycaps in the so-called pudding design.

The evolution of computer keyboards is an interesting story. In the beginning, mechanical keys with a buckling spring were often used, but later keyboards with so-called rubber domes became popular. This is a bulge on a rubber mat which is fitted with a contact on the inside. When this is pressed down, it closes two contact surfaces on a circuit board and thus generates a keystroke. Due to the nature of the material, this principle has only limited durability and mediocre tactile feedback. So we returned to mechanical buttons, which are now experiencing a renaissance and are now available in many versions. What we would like to present here today, however, is the next stage in the evolution of keyboards. Keys with so-called hall-effect sensors are used. Curious? Then just read on!
